Po ubiegłorocznym koncercie Sabatonu w Krakowie miałam jeden cel. Chciałam kiedyś stanąć z aparatem na ich koncercie…
31 maja 2026 roku w ERGO Arenie ten plan się zrealizował. Dzięki Strefie Music Art mogłam fotografować Sabaton w Gdańsku. Organizatorem koncertu było Knock Out Productions.
Z supportów zatrzymam się przy Majestice. To zespół Tommy’ego Johanssona, byłego gitarzysty Sabatonu, więc dla wielu fanów nie był to zwykły występ przed gwiazdą wieczoru. Tommy przez lata był częścią tej historii i było czuć, że publiczność nie traktuje jego obecności obojętnie.
Majestica dała szybki, melodyjny power metal. Dużo gitar, dużo energii, dużo jasnego grania. Dobry rozbieg przed tym, co miało za chwilę spaść na ERGO Arenę.
A potem wszedł Sabaton…
Zaczęli od „Ghost Division” i od razu było wiadomo, że nikt nie zamierza sprawdzać temperatury sali delikatnym termometrem. To był start z pełnym uderzeniem. Chwilę później zabrzmiało „40:1”, czyli numer, który w Polsce ma zupełnie inny ciężar. Publiczność doskonale wiedziała, co robić.
Setlista była ustawiona pod mocne koncertowe tempo. Poleciały największe utwory, nowsze kompozycje i te momenty, na które fani zwykle czekają najbardziej. Były między innymi „The Red Baron”, „The Last Stand”, „Great War”, „Stormtroopers”, „Christmas Truce”, „Soldier of Heaven”, „Night Witches”, „The Attack of the Dead Men” i „Bismarck”.
Pojawił się też materiał z najnowszego albumu „Legends”: „Templars”, „Crossing the Rubicon”, „I, Emperor” i „Hordes of Khan”. Na finał przyszły te numery, które zawsze robią swoje: „Primo Victoria”, „Winged Hussars”, „Swedish Pagans” i „To Hell and Back”.
Koncert miał być częścią trasy Legends Tour – jak ubiegłoroczne schow w Krakowie, ale zespół na Gdańsk miał inny plan. Na chwile przed koncertem na socialach organizatora pojawił się enigmatyczny wpis, który zwiastował prawdziwą petardę!
Ktoś z fanów określił „Legends” jako Sabaton w rajstopach i coś w tym jest. Tam było bardziej teatralnie, bardziej kostiumowo, bardziej opowieściowo. W ERGO Arenie Sabaton pokazał swoją najbardziej arenową twarz. Dużą, głośną, efektowną. Był ogień, były wystrzały, były ogromne telebimy i mappingi, które robiły robotę nawet z dalszych sektorów.
Sabaton najlepiej działa wtedy, kiedy może odpalić pełną sceniczną artylerię.
Najważniejsze, że oprawa nie przykryła muzyki. Pirotechnika była częścią widowiska, ale nie grała za zespół. „The Last Stand” porwało halę. „Bismarck” zabrzmiał potężnie. „Night Witches” miało świetne tempo. „Christmas Truce” dało chwilę oddechu. A „Winged Hussars” w Polsce nie potrzebuje długiego wprowadzenia. Wystarczy początek i publiczność już jest na miejscu.
Największa niespodzianka przyszła przy „Swedish Pagans”. Na scenie ponownie pojawił się Tommy Johansson. Najpierw zagrał z Majesticą, a później wrócił do Sabatonu na moment, który publiczność przyjęła natychmiast.
To nie wyglądało jak zwykły gościnny występ. Raczej jak powrót kogoś, kto przez lata był częścią tej układanki. Joakim Brodén też wyglądał na naprawdę zaskoczonego. Wiadomo, scena ma swoje sekrety, ale ten moment po prostu zadziałał. A może to jakiś szatański plan opatrzności, wszak i ja byłam tym koncercie?
Ogromnie żałuję, że mój syn nie mógł być tam ze mną. Wiem, ile ten koncert by dla niego znaczył. Mam jednak nadzieję, że moje zdjęcia chociaż trochę oddadzą to, co działo się w ERGO Arenie. A było co łapać w kadr. Światło, ogień, emocje i ten rodzaj energii, którego nie da się później odtworzyć spokojnie przed monitorem.

Gdańsk dostał Sabaton dokładnie w tej wersji, która przyciąga tłumy. Głośny, widowiskowy, ciężki i pewny tego, co robi. Były hity, była ogromna produkcja, była niespodzianka z Tommym Johanssonem i była publiczność, która od pierwszych minut wiedziała, po co przyszła.
…a ja wróciłam ze zdjęciami. I mam nadzieję, że pokażą choć kawałek tego ognia.

After last year’s Sabaton concert in Kraków, I had one goal. I wanted to stand at one of their shows with my camera one day.
On May 31, 2026, at ERGO Arena, that plan came true. Thanks to Strefa Music Art, I was able to photograph Sabaton in Gdańsk. The concert was organized by Knock Out Productions.
From the support acts, I’ll stop for a moment at Majestica. This is the band of Tommy Johansson, former Sabaton guitarist, so for many fans it was not just a regular opening act before the main event. Tommy had been part of this story for years, and you could feel that the audience did not treat his presence with indifference.
Majestica delivered fast, melodic power metal. Lots of guitars, lots of energy, lots of bright, open playing. A good warm-up before what was about to hit ERGO Arena.
And then Sabaton entered the stage.
They started with “Ghost Division” and it was immediately clear that nobody was going to gently check the room’s temperature with a delicate thermometer. This was a full-force opening. A moment later came “40:1”, a song that carries a completely different weight in Poland. The audience knew exactly what to do.
The setlist was built around strong concert momentum. There were the biggest songs, newer compositions, and those moments fans usually wait for the most. Among them were “The Red Baron”, “The Last Stand”, “Great War”, “Stormtroopers”, “Christmas Truce”, “Soldier of Heaven”, “Night Witches”, “The Attack of the Dead Men” and “Bismarck”.
There was also material from the latest album “Legends”: “Templars”, “Crossing the Rubicon”, “I, Emperor” and “Hordes of Khan”. For the finale came the songs that always do their job: “Primo Victoria”, “Winged Hussars”, “Swedish Pagans” and “To Hell and Back”.
The concert was supposed to be part of the Legends Tour, just like last year’s show in Kraków, but the band had a different plan for Gdańsk. Shortly before the concert, an enigmatic post appeared on the organizer’s social media, hinting at a real blast.
One fan described “Legends” as Sabaton in tights, and there is something to that. It was more theatrical, more costume-driven, more story-based. At ERGO Arena, Sabaton showed its most arena-ready face. Big, loud, spectacular. There was fire, there were explosions, huge screens and mappings that worked even from the farther sectors.
Sabaton works best when it can fire up its full stage artillery.
Most importantly, the production did not overshadow the music. The pyrotechnics were part of the show, but they did not play instead of the band. “The Last Stand” took over the hall. “Bismarck” sounded massive. “Night Witches” had great pace. “Christmas Truce” gave a moment to breathe. And “Winged Hussars” in Poland does not need a long introduction. The opening is enough and the audience is already there.
The biggest surprise came during “Swedish Pagans”. Tommy Johansson appeared on stage again. First he played with Majestica, and later he returned to Sabaton for a moment that the audience embraced instantly.
It did not look like an ordinary guest appearance. It felt more like the return of someone who had been part of this puzzle for years. Joakim Brodén also looked genuinely surprised. Of course, the stage has its secrets, but that moment simply worked. Or maybe it was some devilish plan of providence, since I was at that concert too?
I deeply regret that my son could not be there with me. I know how much this concert would have meant to him. Still, I hope my photos will at least partly show what happened at ERGO Arena. And there was a lot to capture. Light, fire, emotions and that kind of energy that cannot later be calmly recreated in front of a monitor.
Gdańsk got Sabaton exactly in the version that draws crowds. Loud, spectacular, heavy and fully confident in what it does. There were hits, there was a huge production, there was the surprise with Tommy Johansson, and there was an audience that knew from the first minutes why it had come.
And I came back with photos. I hope they show at least a piece of that fire.
